Celebration of Heritage, Gratitude, and Food: Thanksgiving is a traditional celebration of the first immigrants giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest and the preceding year. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we recognize we are all immigrants from elsewhere originally, including the Native Americans who arrived in Alaska from Russian Siberia tens of thousands of years ago. Let’s discuss and hear how our ancestors (or ourselves) arrived in this country, what that means for us culturally, including traditional food dishes, and what we are especially grateful for in this challenging year.
