Charles Lahti print artist, painter

http://charleslahti.com/

As early as the age of eleven, when his mother offered him cash to buy a suit for his birthday and he bought a David Hockney print instead, Charles Lahti has always loved the medium of print.

On his last year studying art at the University of Minnesota, he was offered a position in New York, where he worked as a master printer and collaborated with artists LeRoy Neiman, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg.

Long influenced by the abstract, Pop & minimalist movements, Charles continues to create works in a style that remains contemporary and modern.

He has exhibited in venues as varied as the New Museum, White Columns, and The Swatch Time Ship Gallery and has had his paintings featured in Woody Allen’s film ‘Mighty Aphrodite’.

Long an advocate of creating affordable art for mass production along the beliefs of Warhol and Keith Haring, he is currently producing a hand-screened collection of gift wrap sheets that double as poster prints, gift boxes that turn into display objects and witty cards that work as mailable art.
